Sportsmen and soap stars hit their fundraising target for six when they raised £1,500 for a cancer charity at a cricket match.

Emmerdale veteran Chris Chittel l (pictured) scored the winning run against Featherstone Cricket Club in aid of Leukaemia Research.

The actor, who plays character Eric Pollard, cinched the victory for his team of cast and crew with a final score of 115 to 114.

Craig Robinson, team captain for the Featherstone club, said: “It was a very close game and we were overwhelmed by the number of people who turned up. We raised more than we anticipated, it was a good day.”

Around 1,500 turned up the event, which also included a barbecue, tombola, children’s rides and competitions.

Supermarket giant Tesco donated a lorry full of food and drink on the day. P414b330.
