Wakefield awakened after Trinity Walk set its phasers to fun for a special Star Wars event celebrating The Force Awakens.

Shoppers were out in force at the free ‘Star Walk’ cosplay event which saw series characters including Chewbacca, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper meet shoppers and visit stores.

Visitors even came dressed as their favourite characters from the films to greet the out of this world trio on Saturday, December 19.

The seven foot tall Wookiee especially proved a hit with shoppers of all generations, with constant queues of people wanting to get photos from 11am right through to 3pm.

Cormac Hamilton, Trinity Walk’s centre manager, said: “Our character appearances have been hugely popular this year with shoppers of all ages, so it made sense to do something to celebrate this huge new film.

“It was a great free, family event with a difference during the Christmas run in.”
