THE Prince of Wales Hospice wants 1,000 people to forget about dancing and, instead, to walk the night away on Saturday, July 14.
Organisers of the 2012 Starlight Walk are hoping to raise £70,000 towards the £2.2m annual running costs of the hospice, with a choice of six or ten-mile routes.
The 1970s-themed event is based at Castleford Tigers’ ground, where the party starts at 8.30pm with Ridings FM providing the music for 70s-style dancers and other acts.
A firework display at 10.30pm will then send the walkers off in spectacular style.
Event fundraiser Helen Wells said: “We hope everyone joining the walk will go 70s style to help us raise £70,000 so we can continue to make a difference.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the flower power hippies, disco divas and glam rock stars at this event as 1,000 people do their bit to raise funds.”
The walk is open to anyone over the age of 14 – male or female – and entry forms are available from hospice shops, by visiting www.pwhstarlightwalk.org.uk or by calling 0844 248 4787.
