YOUNG superheroes at Castleford’s Park Junior School ditched their secret identities for the day and used their powers to raise cash for school funds.
Pupils and staff at the Medley Street school dressed up as comic book characters – including Superman, Spider-Man and Wonderwoman – during a superhero-themed extravaganza at the end of term.
Children donated cash for coming to school in fancy dress and were sponsored for taking part in a series of super challenges.
Hazel Daley, year six teacher, said: “It was a fantastic day – the costumes the children were wearing were incredible and the school looked so colourful.
“We decide to revamp the curriculum to make it more exciting and engaging for the children so their work in lessons revolved around superheroes.
“The year six school council members also organised some circuit-training superhero challenges in the school hall – there were eight different challenges and everyone at the school took part.
“The pupils were using the microphone to tell everyone what to do and when they should move on to the next challenge.
“It was the first thing they’ve organised this school year and they did a brilliant job – we’re very proud of them.
“The money we raised will go towards taking the children on more exciting visits and trips.
“It was a brilliant day – it was the last day of term and everyone had a lot of fun.”
