A TEAM of special swimmers have scooped gold, silver and bronze in a national competition just ahead of the Olympics.
Members of Pontefract Special Olympics swim squad have continued a medal-winning streak at the Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation (DSISO) National Championships 2012 held in High Wycombe on July 14.
Thomas Raddings, 14, of Ackworth won three gold medals for 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke and 50m freestyle. Sarah Shutt, 37, from Featherstone, took two bronze medals for 100m breaststroke and 50m backstroke and James Tulley, 14, of Pontefract won silver in the 25m freestyle.
Coun Chauhdry Shafique Mayor of High Wycombe, presented Sarah with certificates for her seven European and six World Records won at competitions held earlier in the year.
Terry Raddings, event coach said, “I am very proud of their achievements at national level in the Olympic season.”
