Castleford Tigers helped youngsters get into reading with a special event at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.

Mascot JT and players Charlie Martin and Jordan Howden spent a morning with youngsters at the Castleford school as part of a partnership between them.

There was a reading session with JT, along with activities and dancing, to launch the Rugby World Cup summer reading challenge, with children being encouraged to read six books during the summer holiday.

Sam Spencer, deputy headteacher, said: “It was absolutely superb, all the children really enjoyed it and were really engaged.”
