Rabbit Jumping UK organised the practice session as preparation for Honley show near Huddersfield on June 8.

Kayleigh Hopkinson, group secretary, said: “It was brilliant. Lots of people attended and were interested in what was happening. A lot of them didn’t understand how much training goes into it.”

The rabbits jumped over hurdles ranging from 10cm to 60cm high.

Miss Hopkinson, who has four rabbits, one of which she shows in jumping competitions, also offered advice to rabbit owners on how to care for their long-eared friends.

She said: “Quite a few people who came along had rabbits and it was nice to see they were looking after them correctly. Most people don’t realise how much hard work goes into owning a rabbit.”
