STAFF at Pontefract’s British Heart Foundation store are holding a coffee morning to scout out new volunteers to help at the shop.

Buns and beverages will be on offer at the Beastfair shop on Tuesday January 24, when staff will be available to chat to shoppers about volunteering.

Deborah Tonks, the store’s assistant manager, said: “We want lots of people to come and have a drink and a bun with us, and if they like we can talk to them about volunteering at the shop.

“The money from the shop is vitally important to fund the research of the charity, and none of it would be possible without the help of volunteers.

“We are really struggling at the moment to find volunteers to come and help out.

“We had quite a few people over the Christmas period but now they have all left to look for other jobs we would like to have people who want to volunteer on a more permanent basis.

“There are lots of things to do, from sorting books to supervising the shop floor.”

The coffee morning will run from 10.30am to 1pm. For more information call Mrs Tonks on 01977 600522.
