Wrecking spree leaves number of vehicles damaged

A number of cars were damaged in an overnight wrecking spree in Wakefield.

Police received multiple reports of thefts from vehicles sometime between 10.30pm on Saturday and 8.45am on Sunday.

Thieves smashed the window of a car parked on Park Lodge Lane and stole a pair of Oakley sunglasses and a Maplins battery charger.

Another vehicle was targeted on Benjamin Street and money stored in the driver’s door was stolen.

Vandals used a brick to smash the window of a car parked on Park Avenue and they stole property.

And thieves broke into a vehicle parked on Silcoates Street and stole a Xtrons CD player.

Police are investigating whether the incidents are linked.
