Castleford Academy has taken the top spot in an exclusive competition to win branded kit courtesy of sportswear specialist, Xamax.
Beating 11 other schools, academies and clubs, the Academy’s year seven rugby team received the most public votes in the Express-run competition.
They will now receive a free team sports kit including tops, shorts and socks, ahead of a big game at Wembley next month.
The Xamax competition, which took place between May and June, encouraged teachers, parents and pupils to submit their schools, academies, football and rugby clubs to win the branded sports kit.
All the teams submitted for inclusion were listed in the Express with readers being asked to vote for those they felt were most deserving of the prize. Sam Stevens, Castleford Academy’s director of business, said: “We’re thrilled to be named as the winner of the competition, we can’t thank the public enough for all their support.
“Receiving the free kit means a lot to the team as they will now be able to take to the pitch in style during the new season.”
Graham Thompson, Xamax managing director, said: “We had a great response to the competition and are pleased to announce Castleford Academy as the winner.
“It was a close call between the 12 teams with Castleford Academy just topping the chart with over 100 votes.
He added: “We are extremely pleased that the team will receive their new kit in time for their game at Wembley.
“We know they will take to the pitch feeling the part as they arrive in their new branded kits.”
