I am writing to you as a Trustee of the Pontefract Food Bank and following an article that appeared in the Metro Newspaper.
The article stated that £3m is spent out of council taxes on food banks.
As trustee and volunteer at the Pontefract Foodbank I would like to state that while some councils may give funds to food banks in various parts of the country the Pontefract Foodbank exists due entirely to the generosity of local people.
These people donate funds, food and their time in order to assist local people who are in food crisis.
Without their invaluable help would not be able to carry out the work that we do and we cannot thank them enough.
