Castle prepares for battle

PONTEFRACT Castle will come alive with the sounds of the Civil War as part of a event celebrating St George's Day.
Pontefract Heritage Group has organised the event, on Sunday April 20 from 11am to 4pm, which will include Civil War displays with cannons, falconry displays, craft stalls and children's crafts.


There will also be tours of the underground magazine, the Queen's own Ravens from Knaresborough and Farmer Copley's hog roast.
A free park and ride will operate from Pontefract Racecourse and admission will cost £1 adult and 50p concessions.
