AN ARCHAELOGICAL team dug deep into their coffers to present £100 to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The Pontefract and District Achaeological Society donated the cash – raised through tours of the historic hermitage under Pontefract General Infirmary – to paramedics at the organisation last week.

Eric Houlder, society chairman, said: “When we hold open days and group tours at the hermitage some kind people give us donations.

“That is used to buy new torchs and lights for the tours with the excess going to a Pontefract cause.

“The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is very active in the town and we thought they were a great group to help out.”
