THERE are still plenty of places left in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life events taking place at Pontefract Racecourse on Sunday May 25.
More than 1,100 places are available in the morning race, starting at 10.30am, and almost 2,400 in the afternoon event at 2.30pm.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the country’s largest women-only fundraising event where women of all ages and fitness levels are invited to come together and walk, jog, or run 5k and raise money to help beat cancer.

The majority of the 260 Race for Life events across the country take place on a Saturday or Sunday morning during the summer, but Pontefract is one of a number of venues which also hosts a second, afternoon event.

Cancer Research UK’s event manager, Helen Nassau, said: “The afternoon event gives women who are otherwise busy – or simply want a lie-in – the chance to still come along and take part.

“And even though places are running out for the morning event, there are still places left for the afternoon.”

To enter the Pontefract Race for Life visit www.raceforlife.org/northeast or call the hotline on 0871 641 2275.
