A PAIR of PCs are getting on their bikes for a cyclothon in aid of Pontefact's Prince of Wales Hospice.
PCs Nicki Charles and Angela Stratton have chosen to take part in the 25-mile circuit with other active fundraisers at this year's cyclothon on Sunday.
The officers, who are part of the Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood policing team, will be using their police bikes for the journey through Pontefract, Darrington, Beal, Ledsham, Ledston and Castleford.
PC Charles said: "We haven't been out on the bikes much recently so we've been trying get out on our patrols on the bike rather than walking or in the cars.
"We have been around our community beat areas a few times.
"I think we will complete the circuit but we'll be aching the next day."
The PCs have been collaring their colleagues for cash to raise as much as possible for the charity.
PC Charles said: "We've been going around the police stations and put a piece on our intranet at work. They all think it's great. They are watching how we do this year and seeing how much we can raise and maybe they'll participate next year."
The cyclothon starts at 9am on Sunday with more than 300 riders expected to take part in the three routes which cover 25, 45 or 60 miles.
Entry forms are available from the hospice and the 13 hospice shops.
