YOUNG Picassos with a flair for art had a brush with a local artist as part of the Pontefract Music Festival poster competition.
Artist Chris Pennock praised all the youngsters who entered the competition to showcase their take on the music festival, which is currently in full swing this week.

After a tough judging session, Charlotte Stone was eventually crowned winner, with Ackworth Howard School pupils William Godridge and Lucy Amery finishing runners-up.

Mr Pennock said: “We had some really good entries and it was really difficult picking a winner when it came down to the last three.

“But Charlotte’s seemed to put across the theme and instant recognition of a music festival and it stuck in my mind. We had a mixture of digital and hand painted entries this year and the digital age seems to be a real trend.”

The music festival continues throughout this week, culminating in the grand finale at Pontefract Town Hall on Saturday. The fun starts at 7pm and tickets are £3 for adults, with £2 concessions.
