BOSSES at Pontefract's Prince of Wales Hospice are urging local women to get behind the care centre's first Starlight Walk in July.
The women-only sponsored walk gets underway at midnight on Saturday July 5 and organisers are hoping there will be a good turnout.

The circular walk will start at Castleford’s Junction 32 shopping outlet and walkers have the choice of completing one or two laps of the six-and-a-half-mile course around Glass Houghton and Castleford.

Registered walkers will receive training advice, sponsorship forms and a special t-shirt to wear on the night. Goody bags will be handed out at the start and there will be a pre-walk warm up aerobics session. Finishers will receive a medal and free breakfast.

Entry costs £10 and there will be no registration on the night, so anyone interest in taking part should contact the hospice fundraising department on 01977 781477 or download an entry form from www.pwh.org.uk/starlightwalk. The deadline for entries is June 1.

Walkers must be aged 14 or over and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteers are also needed to help on the night. For more information contact the hospice fundraising department.

Among the event’s corporate sponsors are RWE npower which will be paying for portable toilet hire and Scottish and Southern Energy, which is sponsoring administration costs for the event.

The money the company has donated will help to pay for entry and sponsor forms, banners and medals.

Nikki Hinman, hospice fundraising manager, said: “We would like to thank Scottish and Southern for the extremely generous corporate sponsorship support they have provided – in particular by donating £6,000 in 2007 and another £10,000 this year.”
