TALENTED artists from Pontefract have won top awards in recognition of their work and achievements.
DIVA – Development Initiatives for Voluntary Arts – presented its lifetime achievement to Eleanor Mullis, who has been an active member of Carleton Theatre Group for 60 years.

She is a member of the group’s committee and still involved in productions.

DIVA’s Susan Ellsworth Award for most committed committee member went to Derek Curtis from Pontefract’s Central Methodist Church art and pottery group.

DIVA chief executive Marissa Wakefield said: “The awards celebrate the dedication, quality of work and achievements of local voluntary arts groups and individuals.

“Participation in the arts makes a powerful contribution to local communities and I am extremely proud to be leading such a unique organisation that represents more than 3,000 talented artists ranging from the performing arts, visual arts, photography and literacy groups”.
