CASTLEFORD Panthers have appointed Jamie Benn as head coach for the 2008-09 campaign.
Former York and Castleford professional Benn, who is currently on the books at Featherstone Rovers, is a former player of the National Conference League side, who were relegated from the Premier Division at the end of last season.

Club spokesman Paul Phelps said: "To have Jamie on board is a tremendous boost after a disappointing end to last season. His vast experience within the pro ranks over a number of years including international honours with Scotland, Cas and currently Featherstone will help us in our main goal of returning to the Premier Division as soon as possible".

He will be assisted by another former pro, ex-first-team boss Mal Agar, who has rejoined the club. Shane Baker will take over control of Panthers' second string open-age outfit, who play in the FAM Yorkshire League.
Panthers, a Clubmark-accredited club, has resumed training at its Raglan Close headquarters at Three Lane Ends every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 6.45pm. Anyone wishing to sign on is welcome to go along.
