Dickens earns Rovers a deserved point
Featherstone Rovers 30
Salford City Reds 30
CAPTAIN Stuart Dickens landed a last-minute penalty to earn Featherstone a richly-deserved point against the Co-operative National League One pace-setters.
Dickens came to the rescue after Salford, who trailed 28-4 six minutes into the second half, looked to have won it after a rousing fightback.
Steve Dooler, Andy Kain, Waine Pryce, debutant Anthony Thackeray and fellow newcomer Matty Dale got the tries to put Rovers in total command.
But the leaders hit back strongly. A 76th-minute try from Steve Bannister, goaled by John Wilshere, left Featherstone in arrears for the first time in the match.
But when the home side regained possession from the restart, the Reds were penalised for interference straight in front and Dickens kept his nerve to deny his former club three valuable points.
