Their winning margin could have been bigger because they had two efforts ruled out and also lost the ball over the line.
Team manager Keith Bell praised Featherstone's defence and discipline.
The only damper was the loss of in-form Scott Glassell
with a broken leg.
Chris Bingham, Josh Hardcastle and Ian Jackson were outstanding.
Richard Colley, Dean Gamble, Darren Fisher and Craig Barker shone and Danny Huby and Stuart Davies were also important contributors.
Sixteen-year-old Hardcastle beat four defenders in a 35-yard run to put Lions ahead with a great try that Glassell goaled. Steve Laurie and Jackson both made good runs before Barker crashed over for a try to put the visitors 10-0 up.
Good defensive work by Colley, Bingham, Mark Spears and Fisher kept out Nottingham.
Sustained Lions pressure saw Spears, Mark Kear, Huby and Simon Childs pave the way for Gamble to shoot over for a try that Jackson converted to make it 16-0 at half-time.
In the second-half, Huby made a sparkling run before Lions lost Barker with a recurrence of a knee injury and Childs with an eye injury.
Nottingham then scored their only points but Lions quickly regained control.
They had an effort disallowed before Huby's delightful pass sent Laurie racing 65 yards for a magnificent try that Jackson goaled.
With Bingham, Colley, Huby and Colley to the fore, Featherstone stayed in the driving seat.
They struck again when Gamble's 35-yard run set up the position for Davies to dance through to score. Lee Joyce completed the scoring with a late penalty.
Lions have another tough away game on Saturday at Huddersfield Underbank (2.30).
