CASTLEFORD have secured Craig Huby on a three-year deal, the Express can exclusively reveal.
The 21-year-old prop has agreed an extension to his current deal, keeping him at the Jungle until the end of the 2001 campaign.
He said: "I'm very happy to have signed this new deal. I've been at the club six years now and had no wish to move away. We have had some disappointments this season but I feel that the club's future is very bright, and as a local lad I want to be part of it.

"I feel that I am playing more consistently this year and appreciate the support that I have had from the coaching team here at the club."
Head coach Terry Matterson predicted a bright future for the Cas-born pack man: "I'm really pleased that Craig has signed a new deal," he said. "Although still only young, he has been here for some time now and been through the clubs recent ups and downs.

"He deserves this, we feel that we've laid a platform with him and that his best rugby is in front of him. It's good to tie up another of the players who has come through the club's Academy system.
"He's got a lot to learn still and there are things we want to add to his game but he's got all the qualities. He gives us go-forward, quick play-the-balls and he's got some whack in defence as well. He's an important part of this club's future."

The former Great Britain Academy international is currently the club's longest-serving player. A product of the Cas Academy set-up, the ex-Pontefract Lions junior has made 90 appearances for the club, including 48 off the bench, scoring 23 tries and kicking 113 goals.
He follows in the footsteps of Joe Westerman and Ryan McGoldrick, who have both put pen to paper on long-term deals in the past month.

Huby is set to make his 14th appearance of the season at home to Bradford on Sunday as Cas look to end a four-match losing streak in league and cup.
Peter Lupton definitely misses out but there is a chance co-captains Awen Guttenbeil and Brent Sherwin - casualties of the Millennium Magic mauling by Wakefield last time out - may return. Guttenbeil is the most likely after making encouraging progress from a calf injury.

Back-row Matt Cook misses out - the loan deal that brought him to Cas from Bradford has a clause preventing him facing his own club - and that could mean a home debut for former Wakefield prop Ned Catic or ex-Penrith Panthers pack man Brendan Hlad.
Boss Matterson is targeting a strong display to help erase the memory of Castleford's defeat to the Wildcats. "We've had two weeks to live with Cardiff and we've got an opportunity against one of the form teams of the competition. We're at home, we like it here and we owe the fans one.

"I expect Bradford to come hungry and ready to go - I wouldn't expect anything less from a Steve MacNamara team.
"But how the other team comes is out of our hands. We need to make sure we're hungry, enthusiastic and committed to the task.
"Bradford perhaps haven't been playing well consistently but they've so many big, strike players and we need to get into the physicality of the game with them."

The Bulls were 50-4 winners at Odsal in March.
Meanwhile, sponsors and community partner Arriva have signed a 'significantly improved deal' with the club. It involves them making a 'substantial five-figure cash investment' for 2008-09, a statement revealed.
As part of the deal, Tigers ace Joe Westerman will feature on the back of one of the company's double decker buses.

Commercial manager Craig Poskitt said: "I am absolutely delighted to announce an improved sponsorship deal with such a well-respected national company in Arriva, After negotiations since mid-February it is a timely boost for the club and hopefully the start of things to come for the 2009 season."

Phil Cummins, engineering director for Arriva Yorkshire, said: "We are delighted to announce our continued sponsorship of the Tigers. The partnership has been extremely successful over the last three years and we are proud to once again be able to support, and be a part of, the great community projects. It's a fantastic way to support our local community and benefit youngsters in the Castleford area."
