It was a slightly disappointing finish for Ackworth who until recently had looked set to win ppomotion to the league's top-flight.
Only five points divided thes top five teams with Ackworth finishing just a point behind second and third placed teams
Siddal and West Bowling.
The Jaguars, without props Jason Wood and Andy Morgan, looked to be up in for a hard afternoon's work against a large Dodworth pack.
Eddie Roberts moved up to the front row and as usual tackled superbly. He was well supported by Chris O'Toole, Paul Hopkinson and Russ Brook.
Ackworth started well, with Dave Backhouse, Gaz Webber and Wez Jackson making great yards.
Second row Lee Dean twice went close. First, he was held up over the line and he then fumbled under pressure while trying to ground the ball.
Dodworth kicked a penalty goal but Ackworth soon replied.
The introduction of Jamie Maughan after a lengthy injury absence gave Ackworth another option in attack. Maughan made a great run after latching onto James Barnett's fine pass and provided a one-handed off-load to Matt Steadman who sent in Webber at the corner.
Ackworth continued to dominate, with Steadman, Will Jordan and Hopkinson all going close.
Shortly before half time, the Jaguars increased their lead when Barnett's long pass sent Johnson through a huge gap to score a try that Barnett goaled.
Early in the second-half, Ackworth's injury jinx struck again when they lost full-back Backhouse (hip injury). Mark Shaw and then O'Toole filled in well in his absence.
Forwards Dean Shepherd, Ian Sayles and Rob Johnson came off the bench to freshen up Ackworth's pack.
Maughan, who gave an eye catching display, linked with Steadman to set up a try for Will Jordan that Barnett goaled.
The Jaguars should have scored again almost immediately when Jordan released Johnson but he turned inside instead of backing himself to the corner and was caught by Dodworth's scrambling defence.
Dodworth got an unconverted try but Ackworth's nerves were settled when strong running Will Jordan took Barnett's short ball close to Dodworth's line and burst through two tacklers to score.
Hooker Paul Hopkinson topped Ackworth's tackle count, closely followed by Jordan, Barnett, and Steadman. Hopkinson also won the players man of the match vote, with O'Toole winning the Dodworth coach's man of the match accolade.
Ackworth hope to challenge for the Division One title again next season.
With the futures of experienced forwards Wood, Morgan, James Ward and Hopkinson uncertain and Steadman travelling to Australia, the Jaguars are looking to strengthen during the off season.
Font row is a priority but Ackworth will welcome players of any position. Training will continue on Thursday evenings (6.30pm).
