Kiwi Test ace signs for Tigers

CASTLEFORD have completed the signing of former New Zealand Test star Sione Faumuina.
The 27-year-old second-row has signed a one-year deal for 2009, the club announced yesterday afternoon.
Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "I'm really pleased to get him. He gives us presence, skill and experience.
"When I was at Canberra he was at New Zealand Warriors and we tried to get him then. I've coached against him and know what a threat he can be."
Faumuina spent a season at Canberra in 2001 before joining the Warriors the following season.
After a brief spell on loan at Hull, where he made three first-team appearances, and an aborted move to Harlequins, the Kiwi joined North Queensland Cowboys where he has spent the past two seasons.
According to reports, the Cowboys did not offer Faumuina a contract for 2009 after a series of alcohol-fuelled off-field incidents.
He played two Tests for New Zealand, in 2003 and 2004, and his capture leaves just one vacancy on Castleford's overseas quota for next season, following the recruitment of Dean Widders and Rangi Chase to join Brent Sherwin, Ryan McGoldrick, Michael Korkidas and Mitchell Sargent at the Jungle.
