Hull Isberg ...8
Castleford Lock Lane ...38
LANE's improved form continued with a resounding win over National Conference League Division Two strugglers Isberg at the Boulevard, Hull.
It was the Castleford side's fourth league win and lifted them two places to sixth in the table.
They should have scored straight from the kick off when Andy Mathews carved out an opening in the first set but centre Richard Humphries' pass to the supporting Chris Tudor went to ground with the try line open.
Isberg then snatched a fourth minute lead with a try from a kick to the corner but Lane quickly bounced back.
With prop Mick Gibbins leading the way, Lane began to look the more likely scorers. They opened their account in the 12th minute when loose-forward Joe Groves crossed and Chris Stockton converted. Two minutes later, Groves was unlucky to have an identical try ruled out for obstruction.
The introduction of props Jonny Jones and Nathan Pincher saw Lane strengthen their grip on the game.
Pincher's break and a great off-load from Jones saw stand-off Robbie Mawson score a try that Stockton improved.
After 35 minutes, Jones barged his way over and Stockton kicked his third goal to make it 18-4 lead but Hull scored on the stroke of half-time to reduce the deficit to ten points.
Seven minutes into the second half, Lane scrum half Adam Myers dummied his way over and Stockton again tagged on the extras.
Five minutes later, the game was virtually over when winger Mathews crossed at the corner.
Lane shot further ahead when excellent work from Wayne Hardy and Gibbins sent Stockton on a 45 yarde run to the line.
Lane completed the scoring with the game's best try when Myers beat several defenders before putting in Tudor at the corner. Hardy added the conversion.
Lane will be aim to keep up the good work when they host Crossfields on Saturday.
