MIDFIELDER Peter Sweeney has left Leeds United and looks set to sign for Grimsby Town.
The 24-year-old left-sided player made only nine first team appearances for the club after joining in January 2008 and his contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
"(Sweeney] is at the stage of his career where he needs to play regular football and I can't guarantee him that here," said United boss Simon Grayson.
Sweeney spent time on loan with Grimsby last season and is exepected to be in talks with the League Two club today.
