SUPERB defence and teamwork was the key to Featherstone's success in the Yorkshire Junior League's Continuation Cup final at the Featherstone Rovers ground.
Excellent defensive work out wide by Zak Dawson, Brad Smith, Scott Ripley, and Connor Bell ensured Lions only trailed 4-0 at half time playing up the slope in the first-half.
Strong play by forwards Max Brown, James Pugh, Jack Blewitt, Robert England
, Connor Smith and Callum Nestor, and slick distribution from Connor Waker, Aron Cunningham and Brad Sharp enabled Lions to quickly take control in the second period.
Flowing rugby resulted in tries from Reece Dyas, Ryan Bailey,Torin Longstaff and Jordan Leech. Blewitt kicked three goals.
The Lions coaches congratulated the players on how far they have come this season.

Lock Lane U 12s ...16
York Acorn U 12s ..10
Lane clinched the Second Division championship with beating fellow table-toppers Acorn in a play-off decider at New Earswick.
The Castleford side went ahead when quick play by hooker George Davies and half-backs Jarron Southernwood and Tom Holmes sent in speedy Connor Hughes for a try that Jordan Hart goaled. Acorn levelled matters but were denied further points by some excellent defending with full-back Charley Sharpe, Sam Sugden and Luke Jowett impressing out wide.
Lane regained the lead when Holmes sidesteeped his way for a great solo try that Hart improved.
The Castleford side came under severe pressure early in the second-half. They were indebted to Liam Hands, Dom Slater, Josh Wilkes and hard-working Adam Lindsay for sterling defensive work. Lane then stretched their lead when fine play by Keiron Powell, Wilkes and Lindsay and a long pass from Holmes saw Hughes dive over for his second try.
Lane conceded another try following strange decisions but they hung on for victory with more desperate defending from Arron Taylor, Jordan Siddons and Julian Lamb.
Lane's coaching team were proud of the commitment shown by the players.
