FERRYBRIDGE 'C' Power Station notched their maiden Pontefract League victory wiith a tense one-wicket win over Division Four high-flyers South Kirkby.
But they made hard work of it after bowling superbly to dismiss Kirkby for just 81, thanks to three wicket hauls from Andy Adams and Richard Lumb.
Lumb claimed 3-26 from 14 overs and Adams produced an unplayable spell to claim 3-11 from 14 overs, si
x of which were maidens.
It was a struggle for Ferry but Richard Lumb's 24 was crucial in a nervy finish.
Featherstone broke their duck in Division Four with an outstanding ten-wicket win over league newcomers Barnsley.
Tom Wragg (4-13) and Todd Davis (3-16) put them in the driving seat. Wragg's ten impressive overs included seven maidens and in the field another of the club's youngsters, Ryan Armitage, also caught the eye with a superb diving catch.
Barnsley mustered only 61 runs and Featherstone openers Mick Smith (33 not out) and Jason Picken (21 not out) knocked them off in just 15.2 overs.
Hensall suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of second-place Pledwick firsts.
Only Paul Calvert (two sixes and four boundaries in 40)got to grips with the hosts' attack as Simon Craven (6-30) did the damage.
Rob Gledhill (49) and Steve Cockell (32 not out) saw Pledwick home, despite a brace of wickets for James Calvert.
After two wash-outs, Thorpe Audlin finally got their Division Six season underway but were well beaten at home to newcomers Thurnscoe.
Veteran Eric Rawlings and Reece Dickinson picked up three wickets apiece to restrict the visitors to 153 but that proved well beyond Thorpe.
Only Jamie Evans (23 not out) put up any resistance as the home side crashed to 72 all out.
Fairburn were comprehensive beaten by the Division Six leaders.
Batting first, the home team were skittled out for just 76, with Alan Greenfield top-scoring with 29.
Rothwell overhauled the total comfortably, although Fairburn were encouraged by the debut of 13-year-old Robbie Bancroft, who claimed 3-9 from 3.2 excellent overs. The youngsters's display was the only highlight of a dismal team performance.
Ferrybridge shaded a low-scoring clash with Ryhill by just 15 runs.
They looked down and out after Edward Kaye (8-23) ripped through the innings to leave Ryhill needing only 63 for victory.
But Ferry's three-man attack also found the conditions to their liking. Keith Lumb claimed 5-19 from 12 overs, Paul Snowdon took 3-25 and Paul Lumb chipped in with 2-3 to complete an unlikely success.
