BOTH Pontefract and Castleford suffered Northern Division defeats on Saturday.
Pontefract went down 49-15 against North East Two rivals Billingham, who punished some poor defence to run in 32 second-half points.
An Andy Dean penalty and two tries from winger Michael Bateman were the fruits of Ponte's efforts.
Castleford suffered their first home defeat for two seasons against Yorkshire Two table-toppers Wheatley Hills.
Tries from Martin Dye and Brad Christian were in vain as Wheatley won a top-of-the-table clash 21-15.
Knottingley were without a game.
Pontefract Pythons' clash with Sheffield Medicals was postponed.
See Thursday's Express Sport for full match reports and all the latest from the local RU scene.
