Cutsyke ...8
Rockware Stolzle ....29
ROCKWARE hit top form to lift the Castleford and Featherstone ARL's David Poulter Open Cup at Townville on Friday.
With Keith Brown, Dale Skelton, Kyler Jarrett and Davey Holton leading the way, CMS Yorkshire League Premier Division side Rockware were too good for Division One outfit Cutsyke.
Cutsyke never quite got going, despite the efforts of prop Gary Lumb.
Their cause wasn't helped by the dismissals in the second period of loose forward Danny Huby and centre Gareth Smith for alleged punching and the sin binning in the 29th minute of centre Stuart Davies for a similar offence.
Rockware, however, were already in a dominant mood and eight points ahead before Davies was yellow-carded and were 21-4 in front when Huby received his marching orders on the hour.
Hooker Davey Holton, selected as the man of the match by Castleford and Featherstone district coach Kevin Spears, opened the scoring with a 15th minute penalty. Shortly afterwards, Rockware prop Kyle Jarrett crashed over for a try that Holton goaled.
Stolzle stretched their lead to 15 points before the break. Prop Dale Skelton charged through to score, stand off Timmy Morrell kicked a conversion and Holton landed a drop goal.
Cutsyke hit back on the restart when Davies swept in, but Rockware full back Keith Brown put paid to hopes of a rally with a 90-metre interception try that was improved by Holton who then kicked a penalty goal.
Cutsyke replied with a try by Jodie Griffiths but Rockware deservedly had the last word when second row Scott Pearson touched down and loose forward Ben Pearson added the extras to round off a first-class team performance.
