KIPPAX, who started the season with a 12-point deduction, climbed to fifth in Wetherby League Division Two with their seventh successive league victory.
David Illingworth, Andrew Radi and Danny Ogden all hit half-centuries as Kippax posted a formidable 273-9 at Kirk Hammerton.

In reply, Kirk Hammerton were skittled for 45 by Scott Harrison (5-22) and Muhammed Mirza (5-22).

Great Preston were fo
rced to field a weakened bowling attack and endured a hard afternoon in the field against title-chasers Shadwell on their way to a 50-run defeat in Division One.

They got off to a decent start with Shadwell openers Blakeborough and James back in the dressing room for single figure scores, but West Indian Ryan Hercules (67) and Muhammed Tariq (55) began to pile up the runs for the visitors and they went on to reach 222-8 from their 45 overs. The home bowlers did persevere and the pick were Lee Russell, with 4-57, and Murugadas Devanran, 3-44.

Preston's reply was soon set back as they came up against a quick opening spell from Hercules (3-39), who cleared the top order.

Lee Smith hung on in and battled away to make 36 as the hosts tried to hit back. Handy contributions of 18 and 16 respectively from Wormstone and Ian Newton followed, but wickets were still tumbling as Tariq joined Hercules in a potent Shadwell attack.

Adrian Sharpe (40) and Devanran (27 not out) shared a stand of 60 in a ninth-wicket stand to ensure Great Preston picked up a point, but the innings was wrapped up in the 40th over with the home side all out for 172.

Tariq backed up his impressive batting from earlier by taking 6-29 from 11.3 overs.
