NEW signing Steve Snitch (pictured) has been handed the number 12 shirt for Castleford Tigers for the 2010 season.
The Tigers' squad list announced today sees the second row man brought in from Wakefield taking the 12 shirt over from Ryan Clayton, who will now wear the number 17.
Castleford's other new signing, prop Paul Jackson, has been given number 16 while in a 24-man squad there are places for the first time for promising forwards Oliver Holmes and John Davies.
Holmes, 17, won a new contract just last month after impressing in full-time training with the senior players and he has now been handed the number 26 jersey for 2010.
Another product of the Tigers Academy set-up, Jordan Thompson, moves from number 30 last term to take the 21 shirt worn by Sione Faumuina. The rest of the squad, however, keep the same numbers as in 2009.
"There aren't too many changes to the squad for next season with just two new signings coming on board and we have promoted two of our promising young players in John and Olly, both of who have plenty of potential and they will be keen to press their claims," said coach Terry Matterson.
"I would still like to add another new face, possibly two, and we are actively considering the options available to use, but we won't bring a player in for the sake of adding a number, we will only look at people who we feel can do the right job for us."
The full squad list is:
1 Richard Owen; 2 Kirk Dixon; 3 Michael Shenton; 4 James Evans; 5 Michael Wainwright; 6 Rangi Chase; 7 Brent Sherwin; 8 Mitchell Sargent; 9 Ryan Hudson; 10 Craig Huby; 11 Brett Ferres; 12 Steve Snitch; 13 Joe Westerman; 14 Stuart Jones; 15 Liam Higgins; 16 Paul Jackson; 17 Ryan Clayton; 18 Nathan Massey; 19 Kirk Netherton; 21 Jordan Thompson; 22 John Davies; 23 Ryan McGoldrick; 25 Dean Widders; 26 Oliver Holmes.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are ready to roll with a two-day spectacular on Saturday and Sunday at Xscape.
The event is must for all Tigers fans and will feature live music, a fashion show (on Saturday), dance performances and interviews with star players.
The event kicks off at 12 noon each day inside Xscape with JT and Mr Purrfect taking centre stage in their Christmas costumes to open the show and it will be entertainment all the way until 1.30pm.
Both PAWS and CLAWS will be dancing and there will be performances from the Jigsaw Entertainments pupils, who will be entertaining the crowds with some well known Christmas songs.
On Saturday on stage coach Terry Matterson will be interviewed, along with skipper Ryan Hudson and Rangi Chase, while on Sunday new signings Paul Jackson and Steve Snitch will be in attendance to take questions from fans.
Saturday will also see the lottery draw taking place live on stage before fans are given a taste of the club's new range of apparel with the Tigers fashion show – featuring the star names who take the field of play each week.
The new home shirt will be on general sale from 1.30pm in the new Tigers Visitors Centre in Xscape.
