YMCA 'B' registered a solid 9-1 win over C Station 'B' in the Castleford & Pontefract Table Tennis League.
Ian Instone and Ray Beck were unbeaten, including the doubles, and Margaret Cooper beat Richard Lumb and Chris Burnell but lost to Andy Adams in straight games.
Instone, Beck and Cooper were the YMCA line-up involved in a 5-5 draw against MTB. Insto
ne and Beck claimed two rubbers apiece and Cooper notched one win.
Paul Meason was unbeaten for MTB - as well as three singles he also won the doubles with Rob McNaught, who took Cooper out in five games to earn a share of the spoils.
Fielding only two players, C Station 'A' conceded three points to MTB but they were to be the only blips for Keith Lumb and Rich Fry, who took three rubbers each and the doubles to leave Meason, McNaught and Denis Shaw empty-handed.
Smith's (Wakefield) lost 3-7 to YMCA 'A', with Richard Cowling, Chris Haw and Trevor Smith all beating late call-up Margaret Cooper. Allen Hopkinson and Gordon Cooper took three wins each and the doubles to seal it for YMCA.
Methley 'B' beat two-man Inglebrook 8-2 to remain unbeaten. Paul Morris lost to Harold Turner, Paul Dykes and Alan Hanson and although Nigel Brook beat Turner and Dykes, the three conceded points were too much to overcome. Hanson beat Brook, as well as taking the doubles with Dykes.
