Castleford have enlisted the help of Government minister Yvette Cooper in their efforts to gain clearance for new signing Mitchell Sargent.

The Tigers announced the capture of the 28-year-old Newcastle Knights prop a month ago but his departure from Australia has been held up by red tape.

"Mitchell is still waiting for the paperwork to be completed at the High Commission in Canberra," said Castleford spokesman Dave Smart.

"It's a frustrating time for both the club and Mitchell and, whilst we have made direct representations and local MP Yvette Cooper is also pursuing the matter on our behalf, his application is in a queue and it seems that we will have to remain patient."
