TOWNVILLE lost ground on the Premier Division's top three after a disappointing 51-run reverse at CYL rivals Wakefield Thornes on Saturday.
Chasing 158, the Poplar Avenue outfit were shot out for just 106 to suffer their sixth defeat of the campaign.
Thornes, batting first, were on the ropes at 66-6 after Ritchie Bresnan, John Rickers and Salman Fazal-Khan made early in-roads.
But Ras
hid (63) and Mick Halloran (31 from number nine) gave the home team a fighting chance by pushing the score to 157.

Fazal-Khan claimed 4-46, Bresnan finished with 3-35 from 10.2 overs and Rickers bagged 3-32 from 11.
Townville never recovered after slumping to 15-4, with Scott Wightman and Del Colquhoun the main destroyers.

Jack Hughes made 14 on his first-team debut and there was resistance down the order from Fazal-Khan (35), Tanvir Bashir (13) and Rich Atkinson (16).
Wightman took 3-39 from 16 overs and there were two wicket returns from Colquhoun (2-12 from seven), Tushar Saha (2-18) and Kabir Rashid (2-11) as Thornes warmed-up for the following day's Jack Hampshire Cup clash against Liversedge in fine style.

Townville's Black Sheep Champions Trophy semi-final clash with Huddersfield Leaguers Honley on Sunday was postponed after a torrential downpour flooded the ground shortly after 1pm.
After heavy overnight rain, club officials worked overtime to get the square and outfield playable but the dinner-time deluge meant their hard work was in vain.
The match has been re-scheduled for this Sunday (1pm).
