A TERRIFIC all-round display from Chris Young helped Castleford to get back to winning ways against Doncaster in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League on Saturday.
After scoring well with the bat when Cas went in first, he followed up with a five-wicket haul with the ball as Doncaster were beaten by 16 runs in a competitive game at Savile Park.

In a low scoring contest, Young's contribution of 39 was invalua
ble, although at 57-1 Castleford were looking good to post a much better total at the time of the opener's dismissal.

Young's departure was the signal for a collapse and suddenly the hosts were in trouble at 60-5.

Captain John Randerson (17) and Gary O'Neill (42) pulled the team round with a 53-run stand for the sixth wicket and there were more handy late runs from Alex Romaniw to take the Castleford score up to 160-9 at the end of their 55 overs.

Michael Chadwick, Ashley Knowles and Alex Gosney all claimed three wickets for a Doncaster attack that kept the pressure on the batsmen.
Young took the ball first up as Doncaster began their reply and was quickly enjoying success as he sent both openers, Paul Silvester and Graeme Attenborough, back with good deliveries.

And 7-2 became 17-3 as Young then had Luke Townsend caught by Andrew Chadwick. The visitors' innings limped along and looked almost over at 57-7 as Young collected two more victims and support came from opening partner Will Hodson (1-32 from 15 overs).

A run out of Andrew Parkin-Coates after he had made 25 also helped keep Doncaster under the thumb, but they did keep battling as Dominic McGough (21) and Chadwick (39 not out) combined for a stubborn 39-run eighth wicket stand.

The latter then found support from Gareth Cox (15) as another 35 runs were added for the fourth wicket and he remained not out to the end with his side denying Castleford points by batting out the full 55 overs to finish on 144-9.

Young finished with 5-45 from 20 overs for the hosts with Randerson claiming 2-29.

The result left Castleford in fifth position, although they have cut the gap to five points behind fourth-placed Doncaster.
