Castleford’s Tim Bresnan is in the Yorkshire Vikings squad for the start of the new look county T20 competition tomorrow.
England commitments in recent years have meant Bresnan has not been able to play in many of the domestic T20 games, but he is eligible in more this year with the new look competition spread out over a longer period instead of just one month and his presence will give Yorkshire a boost as they look to improve on a poor showing in the short form of the game last year.
Yorkshire are hoping for a big crowd at Headingley for their first game in the NatWest T20 Blast when they host Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Headingley tomorrow (start 5.30pm).
England players Joe Root and Gary Ballance are also in a strong-looking squad along with overseas player Kane Williamson, but big-hitting Australian Aaron Finch is not in the country yet because of commitments in the Indian Premier League and will not play until the end of the month at the earliest.
Yorkshire’s 13-man squad to face Northamptonshire Steelbacks: Jonathan Bairstow, Gary Ballance, Tim Bresnan, Jack Brooks, Andrew Gale (capt), Andrew Hodd, Adam Lyth, Liam Plunkett, Richard Pyrah, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ryan Sidebottom, Kane Williamson.
The starting XI will be named after the toss on Friday.
