CASTLEFORD’S cruiserweight prospect Nathan ‘The Outlaw’ Owens takes on Zimbabwean heavyweight Hasting Rasani, now billed out of Birmingham, in his next contest at the at the Northbridge Leisure Centre, Halifax, on Saturday, April 14.
Rasani is a journeyman fighter who once held the Zimbabwean national title. He has fought a number of notable fighters in his career, including world champions Carl Thompson and David Haye,
Owens said that he has been in hard training since January and will not let his loyal fans down and is looking to put Rasani into retirement.
Manager/coach Keith Walker told the Express that Owens has been travelling across to Ricky Hatton’s gym in Manchester to spar with one of the best cruiserweights in the country, Matty Askin.
This had given him confidence as Askin will be boxing for the British Eliminator on April 29.
It has been a long training camp due to the show being postponed from its original date in March. However, Owens has sparred over 150 rounds and gained a lot of experience.
Tickets at £50 and £30 for the Halifax show are on sale at Ultimate Physiques, Castleford or Big John’s Gym, Featherstone or tel: 0845 4597209.
