Carney faces RFL disciplinary charge

Castleford Tigers winger Justin Carney faces a ban after being charged with a punching offence in Sunday’s game against Widnes Vikings.

Carney has been charged with Grade C punching in the 57th minute against the Vikings along with Widnes winger Paddy Flynn, who also faces the same charge from the same incident in the 57th minute of Sunday’s fixture at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Two other players have been charged with offences committed in First Utility Super League round 14 fixtures.

Chris Annakin, of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, has been charged with the Grade D offence of making a dangerous throw on Warrington Wolves player Roy Asotasi and Ben Westwood, of Warrington Wolves, has been charged with the Grade D offence of making a dangerous throw on Wakefield player Scott Anderson in the fourth minute of the same fixture.

All four players were charged after the incidents were scrutinised by the RFL Match Review Panel.

Carney will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal this evening.
