‘We’ve just disintegrated’: Tigers coach

CASTLEFORD Tigers boss Ian Millward blasted his team after a 40-22 defeat to London Broncos left them in danger of finishing bottom in Super League.

The Tigers started well and opened the scoring through Adam Milner, but they went on to concede seven tries to fall to their sixth defeat in seven matches.

Although Danny Orr and Josh Griffin (two) scored tries for Castleford they conceded 40 points for the fourth game in a row and Millward was an unhappy head coach.

He said: “When we scored at 6-0 I thought we had a fair bit of energy and we could have gone 12-0 up.

“I couldn’t have been any more proud of the players after the Huddersfield, Wigan and Warrington games and then the last two games we’ve just disintegrated as a group.

“The amount of errors we’ve come up with defensively and attacking wise have just given us no rhythm and no ability to get any confidence. It was there for us to see.

“Even when we scored straight after half-time you think they’ve got plenty of tries in them, but we shot ourselves in the foot straight away.

“I thought the fans were very good to use in regard to the inconsistency we provided for them. They want to support the players, but they need the players also to support each other.

“I felt at times we looked very much like a boat out to sea with a very rough ocean and we were rocking everywhere.

“I’m aware we could finish bottom, but I think it would be great if we could ask the players what their response would be and also to their actions in the next three weeks.”
