Featherstone Rovers gave an outstanding display in defence and attack in Sunday’s impressive 24-8 win against Super Leaguers Wakefield.
Rovers won their second pre-season game in great style after making a dream start.
They were 16-0 up after nine minutes, with former Wakefield player Matt James scoring their first try straight from the kick-off after just six seconds.
The Wildcats cut the half-time deficit to 16-8 but they were again outplayed in the second-half when Rovers kept them scoreless.
Featherstone were by far the sharper side, with winger Jamel Chisholm scoring three tries.
Will Sharp was Featherstone’s other try scorer and Gareth Moore kicked two goals as they maintained their unbeaten record under new coach John Bastian.
Wakefield’s try scorers were Dean Collis and Peter Fox.
