Featherstone coach Daryl Powell is delighted with the form of the Rovers pack in the opening three league matches of the season.

Rovers, aiming to lift the League Leaders’ Shield for a fourth successive year, are top of of the Kingstone Press Championship after beating Leigh Centurions, Dewsbury Rams and Barrow Raiders.

“We’ve a big pack and they are pretty aggressive. The go forward has been outstanding in the three games so far,” said Powell.

“I thought the forwards were superb at Dewsbury when we needed to grind out a win and they were again excellent against Barrow last Sunday.

“We are big and mobile and there’s lots of off-loads in there which is really strengthening the way we play the game.

“James Lockwood has been a big improver for us. He was pretty strong last year but it looks like he’s gone to another level this season. He can play equally well at prop or in the back row.

“He’s as tough as they come and he’s good with and without the ball. There’s a lot of competition for places in the pack this year and he’s responded in the right way.”

Latest Rovers £500 lottery winners are I Jolley (P1306), J Sneaton (B0075), I Harban (H5832), M Hullah (E4406), K Kesik (K6997). £5 consolation prizes: D Hill (W1222), B Draper (V3111), T Kirk (V4131), T Blackburn (V3113).
