Ropati bags two tries as Rovers put Knights to sword
TANGI Ropati and Kyle Briggs both scored tries on their return to first-team action in Championship leaders Featherstone's 40-12 win at York City Knights on Friday night.
Samoan international Ropati, making his first senior appearance since he sustained a broken jaw in April, bagged Featherstone's first try after just three minutes and added a second three minutes into the second-half.
Briggs marked his comeback after a shoulder operation by collecting the last of Featherstone's seven tries four minutes from time.
Nathan Chappell (two), Sam Smeaton (pictured) and Dom Maloney were Rovers' other try scorers as they bounced back from their 21-12 defeat against Halifax in the Northern Rail Cup final to stay on course to lift the League Leaders' Shield for the third successive year.
Friday's win put them five points clear of closest rivals Halifax.
Liam Finn kicked six conversions for Rovers who host Swinton in their next fixture on August 12.
