Rovers continue excellent start under new boss Bastian

Winger Jamel Chisholm bagged two more tries as Featherstone’s winning pre-season continued with Sunday’s 30-12 victory over Halifax at Big Fellas Stadium.

After beating Wakefield 24-8 and Hunslet 26-0, Rovers made it three wins from three matches under new head coach John Bastian by ouitplaying Championship rivals Halifax.

Rovers led 18-12 at half-time and their impressive defence kept Halifax scoreless in the second-half.

Scrum-half Gareth Moore crowned an excellent contribution by landing five goals from five kicks.

Tim Spears, Greg Worthington and Andy Ellis were Rovers’ other try scorers.

Featherstone’s only setback was the loss of Matt Nicholson with a knee injury.

Scott Murrell and Adam Robinson were Halifax’s try scorers and Simon Brown kicked two goals.
