Featherstone Rovers maintained their bid to lift the League Leaders’ Shield for a fifth successive season with Sunday’s 38-18 victory against Barrow at New Craven Park.

Second-placed stayed four points behind leaders Leigh who recovered from 24-6 down at half-time to win 36-28 at Halifax.

Leading 8-0 after 13 minutes, Rovers found themselves 14-12 behind early in the second-half but they then stepped up a gear to run out comfortable winnners with an eight-try show.

Ian Hardman grabbed two tries and Will Sharp also crossed in a blistering six-minute spell as the visitors took control.

Gareth Moore, Andy Kain, Matt James, Greg Worthington and Andy Ellis were Featherstone’s other try scorers.

Moore kicked three conversions.

Barrow’s try scorers were Dalton Grant (two), Mal Wiper and Ryan Shaw.
