An injury-time goal by Nigel Danby gave Pontefract Collieries a 3-2 win away to Dinnington Town in Division one of the Toolstation NCE League on Saturday.
It looked like Colls would have to settle for another draw, but they sent defender Danby up into the forward line in a late push for a winner and the move paid dividends when he turned on the edge of the area to send a shot into the top corner of the net.
Ponte had earlier been given a flying start when new signing Gareth Grant scored after only three minutes, tapping in after a shot had struck the crossbar.
Dinnington levelled through Lanzel Reid, but three minutes into the second half another new signing restored the visitors’ lead with Kyle Hawthorne running through to score on his debut.
Again the hosts hit back with Greg Ramsden netting on 72 minutes only for late drama to see Town reduced to 10 men with Liam Cartledge sent-off for a second yellow card then Danby come up with the late winner.
Collieries were in league action again on Tuesday night at AFC Emley when they came from two down to earn a point from a 2-2 draw.
Goals from Antony Brown and Doran Jordan saw them trailing midway through the first half, but Andy Catton pulled one back on 28 minutes and Liam Radford was on target 10 minutes from time to clinch the draw.
Pontefract are back at home this Saturday when they face promotion rivals Worsbrough Bridge (3pm).
