Pontefract Collieries were left frustrated in their bid to close the gap on the top three in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League when they had their games at Hallam last Saturday and at Hall Road Rangers on Tuesday both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

The Hallam game will now be played on Tuesday, March 25 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Despite not playing, Colls did not lose ground on two of their promotion rivals as second-placed Cleethorpes Town and third-placed Shaw Lane Aquaforce both suffered defeats, leaving Ponte seven points off a top two place with games in hand on all three teams above them.

Shaw Lane’s defeat prompted them to part company with their former Colls manager, Simon Houghton. They have lost four of their last six games, but are still six points above Ponte after topping the table in the first half of the season.

Collieries are away to mid-table Rossington Main this Saturday (3pm) and travel to play leaders Bottesford Town next Wednesday (7.45pm).

Glasshoughton Welfare were left kicking their heels again as their scheduled Premier Division game at home to Barton Town Old Boys was postponed because the Leeds Road ground remained waterlogged. It will now be played on Saturday, March 29.

Weather permitting, this Saturday they are hoping to get back in action when due to host Liversedge (3pm). They also have an away game at Retford United next Tuesday (7.45pm).
