Three goals in the last 16 minutes condemned Pontefract Collieries to another defeat and left them in the bottom three of the Premier Division of the Toolstation NCE League.
At home to Thackley, they initially looked good for at least a point after twice leading in the opening half, but the defence was found wanting after the break and they now face a real battle in their remaining four games if they are to avoid an immediate drop back to the first division following promotion last season.
New boy David Burniston gave Colls the start they were looking for against tenth-placed Thackley when he put them ahead after 12 minutes.
Ryan Farrell equalised for the visitors before Aaron Moxam made it 2-1 on 34 minutes.
But Patrick McGuire came up with a second leveller two minutes before half-time and it was Thackley who went on to clinch victory after the break.
It was still all square until the 74th minute when Andrew Wood netted for the visitors. Farrell then added his second eight minutes from time and Daniel Pett rubbed salt into the wounds with Thackley’s fifth in the final minute.
Ponte are away this Saturday to Garforth Town, who are five places and six points above them.
