Two goals in the last four minutes from Jack Mawson and Mikey Dunn earned Pontefract Collieries a thrilling 5-3 success at home to Eccleshill United in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League on Tuesday night.
After two defeats on the road, Colls bounced back in a game in which they came from two down to be level at 2-2 at the break then took the lead early in the second half only to be pegged back within a minute.
Mark Whitehouse and Chris Jackson gave Ponte parity at the break and Dunn scored on 51 minutes, but the hosts needed their big finish to take the points.
Collieries went down 3-2 at Winterton Rangers last Wednesday despite goals from Mark Whitehouse and Mikey Dunn.
They also lost 4-2 at Hall Road Rangers on Saturday despite the hosts having Brad Ricketts sent-off.
The game exploded into life after a goalless and uneventful first half.
Ponte went behind as Josh Batty netted. Within 60 seconds Colls hit back as Kane Reece’s shot flew in only for Batty’s cross to somehow find the net just a minute later to make it 2-1.
Rangers then went down a man when Ricketts was sent-off after being involved in a confrontation with Ponte striker Chris Wood. But the hosts scored again as Ash Dexter volleyed home.
Ponte were not done, as Jackson headed in, but their hopes were ended by Scott Phillips on 84 minutes.
Pontefract host Rossington Main this Saturday (3pm) and are at home to Glasshoughton Welfare next Tuesday (7.45pm).
