ROBERT Snodgrass rounded off his great week with a goal and a man of the match performance to help Leeds United to do the double over Bristol City.

The skilful winger earned his first Scotland cap in midweek and celebrated in great style with a high class opening goal at Ashton Gate - his seventh of the season coming after he combined with fellow winger Max Gradel and put the ball in the net after a delightful dribble and drag back.

Snodgrass turned provider early in the second half when his run to the bye-line and pull back gave Gradel a chance and the Ivory Coast man squeezed a shot through the legs of ex-England keeper David James.

Only a good save from James denied Snodgrass another goal and manager Simon Grayson was full of praise for his latest international.

He said: “It has been a huge week for Robert, with his first international cap or Scotland and now this excellent performance.

“He showed what his quality is. He kept his composure and moved his feet well.

“When you work as hard as he does you deserve the plaudits and accolades that come your way. In the 92nd minute he was still closing down Bristol City’s full-back and playing his part for the team.

“Max Gradel is a similar type of player on our other wing and he also took his goal well and played a major role in our victory. He’s lively and hard to keep down.

“I was delighted with how Eric Lichaj settled in as well. He only came in on Thursday, but he showed a good understanding with Robert Snodgrass down the right and showed why Aston Villa rate him so highly.”

Grayson was delighted to bring the three points back from the long travel west.

He added: “To come here and get a result is very pleasing. They’ve got some good players and had a great result last weekend at Preston.

“It was a professional performance. The first half we were excellent, we got the goal and could quite easily have had a couple more if we`d shown a little more composure in the final third.

“I knew they would come back at us, but we got that second goal. We had to make some saves and blocks and get bodies in the way of things, but that’s part and parcel of the game, you have to do that.

“I’m delighted we got a clean sheet and another victory.”
